Manifest Attributes Purpose Name of the MIDlet suite. Version number of the MIDlet. Who developed the MIDlet. Reference to a specific MIDlet inside a MIDlet suite. Install the Toolkit as a stand alone application Create a New Project Once the installation is complete, launch the Toolkit. You should see a screen similar to that shown in Figure 4–12. Figure 4-12. Creating a new project Configure the Project Settings Once you select Create Project, a new dialog box will appear that will allow you to specify the settings for the JAD and the manifest file (see Figure 4–14).

If you have installed a more current version, or are running an implementation provided by a device manufacturer or third-party, the emulator display may look different than what you see here. However, the base functionality of the MIDlet will not be affected. The good news is, once you've developed a system for compiling, pre-verifying and previewing, not much changes.
