He wanted to urge them to turn down the Lend Lease Bill. The bill was for sending war materials to help England and other countries fighting Germany. In April 1941 President Roosevelt held a press conference.
In 1934, Bruno Richard Hauptmann, was arrested for the murder of the Lindbergh baby. He was a German-born carpenter from the Bronx. It was believed that he used a stepladder to kidnap the child. He then may have accidentally dropped Charles while climbing down the ladder. The baby must have been struck in the head, and he died instantly. In January 1935 a six week trial was held.
