TB-29 trainers were equipped with additional seats for use by instructor and evaluation crew. The second T B-29 designation was used to denote B-29s 1ha1 were modified with tow target systems. These aircraft had electric reels installed in the aft bomb bay that cou ld deploy a cable well over a mile long, minimizing the threat of the tug being hit during target practice.
